Hallwood Media, the record label and management company founded by Neil Jacobson, former CEO of Geffen Records, announces the highly-anticipated release of “Hollow,” the powerful debut album from emerging Christian folk artist Noah Baker. At just 22 years old, the Missouri native has crafted a visceral musical journey exploring his personal struggles and triumphs as a husband, father, and man of faith. “Hollow” is available now across all digital streaming platforms.
The album’s raw, introspective songwriting pulls no punches in confronting the darkness Baker faced in 2023 – a year he calls “the worst of my life. I was ‘Hollow’ and felt nothing.” The haunting focus track, “All Knowing”, lays bare his spiritual anguish with the pained confession “I went down to the river / Wickedness abounds / I’ve been purged, I’m a sinner / Don’t take the crown from the giver.”
Yet from this depth of despair, Baker’s music ascends into an impassioned cry for redemption. Tracks like the plaintive “I Need Jesus” see him vulnerably admitting “I need peace / I need love / I need Jesus / Take me out / From the flood / I’m defeated” over his rich, folk-hewn melodies. The stirring “Save Me From Myself”, which, released in April, connected with mass audiences on TikTok and Instagram, amassing over 1500 reels, showcases Baker’s vocal intensity as he pleads “Oh / Save me from myself / I’m running deeper to You / Take me from myself / Don’t turn away from Your son.”
Music has been a lifeline for Baker, anchored in faith and fatherhood. Inspired by his daughter’s reactions to his guitar playing, his songwriting forms an inextricable bond between spiritual journey and lived experience as a young father in rural Missouri. With candid, confessional lyricism and a rich vocal timbre, Noah Baker emerges as an artist to watch. And if the impassioned vulnerability of “Hollow” is any indication, this soulful singer-songwriter is just getting started on what promises to be a remarkable artistic journey.
